VNI 1: The Journey Begins

Greetings to the tech community or anyone else who happens to somehow find themselves landing on this page. Today marks the beginning of a personal journey that will hopefully grow into something one day that others can benefit from as well: my very first blog post.

I’ve learned so much from others—through their books, podcasts, videos, blogs, and the countless insights they’ve shared online. I’ve spent years as a student, a sponge, soaking up as much knowledge as possible. But I’ve rarely seen myself as someone in a position to share back. Why is that? After all, if there’s one thing the tech community has taught me, it’s that sharing is caring—and that even a student has something valuable to contribute.

After reading a blog post by Ivan Pepelnjak entitled, "Publishing Content as an Introvert", I knew I had to take this first step. In this article, Ivan discusses an exchange he had with a reader who was stepping outside his comfort zone to "learn in public", and I just related to the young learner in so many ways. The insight and advice provided by the networking sage felt like the answers I have been seeking myself as to how I can become more comfortable with both network automation and content creation (two separate topics that I really want/need to do, but struggle with doing them well).

Taking the First Step

This blog is my way of stepping outside my comfort zone to start documenting what I’m learning, reflecting on my experiences, and growing through the act of sharing. In the beginning, much of what I post may be rooted in my own personal development, as I work through concepts, tools, and ideas in real time. But my hope is that along the way, something I share might help someone else in the same manner as I have been helped by so many others before me. If even one person learns something here, it’s a path worth taking.

Let the Good Times Roll!

This is one of those "journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step" sorta things, so here we go! Now that we have this first one out of the way, check out my next post VNI 2: VXLAN in the Campus where I discuss my thoughts about a not-so-new concept showing up in a somewhat new location.
